so to keep you fine people in the loop.

i am in the process of moving.
with moving comes packing.
with packing comes lost access to my-doodle-creating-process.
doodles should resume once move is complete and house set up.

until then...
check out my tumblr.
i gave in.
figured it could be fun.

i thought really hard about what kind of card i wanted to make for my dad this year for father's day.
over the last year, i have realized what a blessing it has been to have a dad that has taught me so much.
who he is has shaped me.
from teaching me to ride a bike to teaching me to be a man of character,
i am grateful for every moment i get to spend with him.
and grateful to be able to learn more from him.
he really is the greatest.

true story.
but then i learned a lot while exploring the city!

ps. linked up to hyperbole and a half. she is hilarious. i literally laugh out loud.

pps. just noticed it says "is" instead of "it"...too lazy to change it. so deal :)

so i am back from my adventures in st. louis.
all in all, it was a great trip.

i went from hating the city to beginning to love it.
i feel like i can confidently say i am excited to move there.
(view from the top of the famous arch)
oh, right.
so that awesome opportunity i mentioned involves moving to st. louis.
i will be a graduate student (as well as a graduate assistant) at saint louis university.
a professor of mine essentially asked me to tag along for the ride...
and so now i find myself preparing to move to the midwest.

with any move or transition comes mixed emotions.
i am sad to leave athens--the friendships, the comfortability, and the cheap drinks.
but, i also recognize that it seems natural to move on.
i guess a part of me feels like my time in athens is coming to end.
a transition seems not only inevitable, but necessary.

but, with sadness, also comes a sense of excitement.
the city seems to have a unique vibe.
i am anxious and curious to learn more over the next two years.

doodles of explanation to follow i am sure.

off to have an adventure in saint louis with two of my best pals :)

so while i am away, i will do my best to post, but i have a feeling normally posting will resume upon my return :(

details of the trip to follow.
it may or may not have to do with the aforementioned awesome opportunity...

so to complete (for the most part) my semester update, i provide you with two doodles.

i graduated.

i am officially a university of georgia graduate
bachelors of science in social studies education
one of my pet peeves is when people improperly refer to themselves as an alumni.
so to prevent future embarrassment, i present you with a lesson.

Graduation Talk 101:
alumna: n. a female graduate
alumni: n. a group of graduates
alumnus: n. an individual graduate
alum: n. the cop out, an ambiguous abbreviation

so, as i avoided making decisions, and as graduation drew near...
i received an amazing opportunity.

details to come.
but essentially my professor caught a pretty sweet lightening bug for me...

you know those bumper stickers that say
"don't let the car fool you, my real treasure is in heaven"?
i can totally relate.

me and my car are continually in a fight.
nevertheless, i remain grateful to have a car!

amidst the stresses of growing up, i decided it would be best to distract myself from the looming decision process.
so i went back to OYP to do another show.
while i didn't actually wear a raspberry beret, it was a lot of fun.
and proved to be an effective decision-avoider.

PS. Prince kind of creeps me out.

POST EDIT: this is why i always want to sing "raspberry sorbet!"

one of the great things about graduating college is that there are so many options.
why is it that this is also the most overwhelming part of graduating?

around this time during my student teaching, i was ready to hide under a rock.
it seemed easier to not think about it
but the longer i didn't think about it, the more overwhelming it became.
whomp wah

seeing how i have neither in my life at the moment,
i have recently begun to neglect my poor little nikon.
(being busy hasn't helped the cause either)

ps. my camera totally looks like this...i wish

there was a teacher in the department that i worked in that had a killer mustache.
complete with wax for the magical curl.
he was also australian.
making him even cooler.
i couldn't compete.

ps. i originally spelled it moustache, but then second guessed myself and changed to mustache.
how do you spell it? is one more correct than the other?
oh, those mysterious m(o)ustaches!

me: what did you have for lunch today?
student: hot cheetos
me: is that all?
student: yeah, mr. mac! they so gooooood. you want some?
me: no, that's okay. thanks though.
student: you gotta try em. they make your tongue numb.
me: well in that case...(eats flamin' hot cheeto)

they were in fact flaming. and they did in fact make my tongue numb.

to begin, my semester was dominated by student teaching.
while i had a great experience, i hope i never have to see 4am ever again in my life.
with that said, i think i chose the wrong profession.

sorry for my long hiatus.
i am back.
and i will do my best to keep posting.
pinky promise!

for the next few posts, i plan to update you all on the happenings of this past semester.
get excited. my life is so exciting.

i have been working like crazy this week.
we are working with Soldier's Angels to send donated bags of coffee to troops overseas.
the other day, a young man came in and pulled out his dog tags and said he had committed to serving overseas in two years.
when he turns eighteen.

i told him he was brave.
i told him that was an extremely respectable decision.
but, my heart broke for him.
what kind of system would allow a sixteen year old to commit to fighting a war?
what was he thinking?
he is so young.
but as he spoke it was so clear he was proud of his decision.
he told me about his brother who will be one of the few who gets to come home for the holidays.
the pride for his brother was undeniable.

i wish him and his family a very merry christmas.
and i wish our troops overseas a safe and peaceful holiday.

looking forward to heading home myself!

going sound of music style to wrap my christmas gifts.
i wanted my presents to be a few of julie andrews' favorite things.
